This performance is the result of the encounter between the duo Aut − Davide Piersanti (trombone player and composer) and Manuela Giovagnetti (dancer and choreographer) − and the duo Otto −Sara Ercoli (actress and director) and Meinrad Kneer (composer and bass player) − all of whom are active in the field of musical and theatrical improvisation. In The Grey Area, four performers deal in a suspended present with fragments of conversations stolen from the street. Words as a surreal carpet in an attempt for exchange and characters as cavities of existence on a quest, with a raw, poetic view of an uncertain future. The musicians and performers transmute the lack of communication in a dialogue of musical improvisation, while the choreographic element, woven into a dramatic structure that has its roots in the world of modern mime, evokes, together with an essential direction, the emotions of the unspoken words.
